About The Position

The Health Compliance Administrative Assistant II will join the Health Compliance team at the University of Florida's Student Health Care Center. This role is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the Health Compliance Office, focusing on the university’s student health insurance and immunization requirements. The position ensures accurate and timely processing of incoming insurance information, performs periodic audits for compliance, and interacts with various campus partners to communicate student status and program success. The role also involves providing customer service to students and families regarding health insurance requirements, acting as a liaison with other departments and external agencies, and providing data and reporting support. Additionally, the Administrative Assistant II will recommend and implement internal operating policies and procedures, research and resolve operational problems, and develop and maintain an operating manual.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and four years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have strong diplomacy skills to work with students/parents in resolving complex situations.
  • Position requires extensive sitting and telephone usage, and requires extensive typing and computer work.

  • Knowledge of the Student Information System, PeopleSoft, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Prior experience in health insurance benefit verification or billing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day-to-day activities related to the Health Compliance Office in managing the university’s student health insurance and immunization requirements.
  • Ensures the processing of all incoming insurance information in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Performs periodic audits on the insurance information to ensure compliance with the program requirements.
  • Interacts regularly with Admissions, International Center, GA Benefits, Student Affairs, Enterprise Systems, and other campus partners to keep everyone informed of student status and program success.
  • Provides customer service by phone, email or in person to students and families about the health insurance requirement.
  • Serves as a liaison with other university departments and external agencies including the school sponsored insurance plan to ensure that student’s status and coverage enrollment is accurately recorded.
  • Provides data, reporting and support where needed to facilitate the understanding and processing of the requirement.
  • Recommends and implements internal operating policies and procedures and improved office systems related to health compliance.
  • Researches operational problems and recommends/implements solutions.
  • Develops and maintains operating manual with documented policies and procedures.
