About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as building charge in Newport Cottage, which serves individuals with medical and behavioral challenges. This position is also responsible for coordinating 2nd shift schedules and staff coverage. This position is responsible for the oversight and direct involvement with individual treatment, care and programming and must be capable of communicating effectively, orally and in writing and must be capable of lifting and transferring individuals and giving assistance to staff as needed. This position is also responsible for ensuring that staff receive support and supplies necessary to carry out their responsibilities, to ensure required documentation is compiled, and that the environment is monitored for infection control and safety issues. ALL employees of Murdoch Center are designated as ESSENTIAL for adverse weather and emergency events.

Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development diploma and two years of closely related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be in good standing with the North Carolina Health Care Personnel Registry.
  • Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Counsel.
  • Must be eligible for Nurse Aide I certification by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation.
  • Must be eligible for Nurse Aide II certification by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • Must be eligible for North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with multi-handicapped individuals having knowledge of basic health care, hygiene and safety.
  • Experience in delivering training programs for adult learners.
