About The Position

Grand Junction Regional Center (GJRC) exists to provide person-centered quality healthcare, activities of daily living, and an active learning atmosphere in a safe and healthy environment for intellectually and developmentally disabled (IDD) individuals and individuals who may have behavioral health needs in addition to IDD. This work unit provides 24-hour treatment services that comply with State and Federal regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Two (2) years of experience in an occupational field related to working to the work assigned, such as working with a population with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Must possess a valid, in-good-standing LPT (Licensed Psychiatric Technician) license OR must obtain Qualified Medication Administration Person (QMAP) within three months of hire date.
  • State of Colorado residency at the time of application (unless otherwise identified in the posting), and residency within the state throughout the duration of employment in this position.
  • Must possess a valid, non-restricted Colorado Driver’s License or a non-restricted U.S. Driver's License for positions within 30 miles of the CO state border. Out-of-State Driver’s License holders must obtain a valid, non-restricted Colorado Driver’s License within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct hands-on programming to individuals assigned to the day program area.
  • Act as coordinator for residential staff and up to 15 people in a day program or work setting.
  • Manage the operation of a primary work area or job site, keep work or program area, including organizing the area and obtaining equipment/supplies.
  • Orient new staff to the work area and to individual’s programs.
  • Consistently act as a role model to staff.
  • Act as a resource or advisor to others.
  • Identify training needs for staff and individuals receiving services as it relates to achieving outcomes in their work area.
  • Monitor the production of others; communicates to assigned staff specific expectations and provides feedback.
  • Monitors individual’s wages per Department of Labor regulations.
  • Ensure compliance by staff with Medical, Psychology, OT, Speech, Recreation, Habilitation, and PT needs and recommendations.
  • Assist therapists with specialized evaluations as required.
