About The Position

The Health Care Innovation Operations team brings together diverse specialties that support initiatives across the division and enterprise. As an intern, you will gain broad exposure while contributing to strategic priorities. You will build valuable skills in process improvement, compliance, audit, legal functions, data visualization, intelligence research and cross-functional collaboration across multiple projects within an agile framework. Some examples of the work you may be responsible for during your internship include collaborating with leaders and teams on small-scale deliverables, building professional relationships, and gaining exposure to cross-divisional work across Wellmark. You will also support HCI Intelligence research requests and help produce the monthly newsletter, contribute to operational initiatives that improve systems and processes, build shared understanding, incorporate legislative and regulatory requirements, create repeatable solutions, and deliver actionable insights. Additionally, you will support emerging AI initiatives, legislative changes, and cross-functional priorities, while strengthening your health care business acumen in a collaborative, self-directed team environment.

Requirements

  • Current junior or senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in communication, English, business administration, public health, healthcare management, or related business program.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively work with various business areas
  • Ability to take initiative, prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent research, problem solving with the ability to develop proactive solutions and presentation skills
  • Strong technical aptitude, with the ability to learn new systems quickly
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship or office experience
  • Previous experience or interest in health insurance
  • Practical experience using AI tools
