About The Position

Under the supervision of the EH&S Manager, the Health & Safety Engineer is to assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining programs to preserve personal health, safety, and the environment. Programs include design implementation, training, auditing, and record keeping requirements to comply with local and federal regulations including OSHA, and EPA. The intent of these programs is to prevent injuries by identifying and removing hazards and risks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in environmental, health and safety (EHS), manufacturing, industrial operations, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety regulations, compliance requirements, and manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with employees at all levels of the organization through phone, email, Microsoft Teams, video conferencing, and in-person interactions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive company, employee, financial, and HIPAA-related information.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, professionalism, and diplomacy when addressing employee, safety, and operational matters.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, maintain, and update employee health, safety, and environmental programs, policies, procedures, and related documentation, including the company safety manual.
  • Develop, deliver, and maintain safety and environmental training programs, including annual AFS training and other assigned training initiatives, while promoting employee awareness of health, safety, and environmental best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local health, safety, and environmental regulations through regular audits, inspections, reporting, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to solid and hazardous waste management.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain emergency response plans, procedures, systems, and teams, including first aid, spill response, emergency alarm, fire protection, and fire suppression programs.
  • Lead the investigation, documentation, and reporting of workplace injuries, near misses, fires, property damage, and other incidents, and coordinate required follow-up actions.
  • Coordinate Workers' Compensation claims administration and OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly reports related to recordable injuries, lost-time incidents, and near-miss occurrences.
  • Facilitate regular safety committee meetings and maintain action-item tracking to ensure timely resolution of identified concerns.
  • Participate in and support routine 6S housekeeping and safety inspections.
  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate workplace hazards through inspections of facilities, equipment, machinery, and safety systems while assessing the effectiveness of existing controls and recommending improvements to reduce risk and ensure compliance.
  • Develop and maintain job physical demand assessments.
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS), chemical inventory records, contractor safety documentation, certificates of insurance, and other required compliance records.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
