About The Position

The Health and Safety Coordinator forms a part of the Human Resource team and helps in supporting the operational aspect of the company with a focus on people and safety. This role supports all aspects relating to safe work practices, best practices and continual improvement.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of direct health and safety experience
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related discipline or equivalent knowledge and/or experience
  • Demonstrated occupational health & safety competency
  • Outgoing, visible, and approachable with the ability to inspire and influence others
  • Excellent interpersonal/listening skills in order to interact with a diverse workforce
  • A proactive, problem-solver with the courage to lead change

Responsibilities

  • Assume a leadership role in the plant safety, plant specific JHSC, while continually analyzing, planning and implementing process improvements
  • Conduct tours with the purpose of developing a safety culture including communicating, identifying and correcting risks, with supervisors and employees
  • Develop and deliver training programs and polices as it relates to health and safety
  • Participate in daily meetings; report key information
  • Act as the liaison with regard to WSIB and MOL ; including claim management
