About The Position

The Health & Benefits (H&B) team focuses on helping clients make a difference in the lives of their employees by controlling health and welfare plan costs, improving health outcomes, and promoting employee engagement. They offer solutions for creative plan design, vendor evaluation, pricing, data analytics, legal compliance, and specialty consulting services. As a Health and Benefits Intern, you will work with industry leaders on real client assignments, developing technical knowledge and industry expertise. You will gain exposure to various functions within the business, including Client Service Teams (CST) and Financial, Actuarial, and Analytics (FAA) teams. CST delivers strategic support for health and benefits programs, leading client engagements and building strong client relationships. FAA colleagues drive revenue by leading quantitative and risk conversations, delivering strategic insights, and solving complex client problems using financial management and data analytics expertise.

Requirements

  • Progress towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in human capital/human resource management, health economics, risk management & insurance, business management, marketing and finance, actuarial science, advanced mathematics, or any other major with significant quantitative work.
  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
  • Prior internship or other work experience demonstrating increasing levels of complex work, autonomy, and client service skills.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and work independently, but also cooperatively in a close team environment.
  • Passion for solving problems and sharing solutions to exceed client standards.
  • Resourceful and creative; inquisitive.
  • Sense of accountability; owning one’s work and taking pride in it.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, client-oriented environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • This is a hybrid position that requires you to be local and able to commute to the San Francisco office.
  • Able to work legally in the United States indefinitely and without Visa sponsorship.
  • Accepting applications from candidates that graduate with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree between December 2027 through June 2028.

  • For Actuarial students: Successful completion of one or more actuarial exams is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of new client strategies and solutions.
  • Analyze and compare vendor products, services, and contracts.
  • Perform financial analyses, including developing pricing, creating employee contribution strategies, and modeling plan design alternatives.
  • Gain specialized knowledge in areas such as pharmacy, life and disability insurance, health equity and wellbeing, vendor placement, actuarial/analytics, and more.
  • Evaluate responses to surveys and vendor proposals.
