About The Position

We assist large and mid-size clients in controlling health and welfare plan costs, improving health outcomes, and promoting employee engagement with state-of-the-art interventions. Our solutions include creative plan design, vendor evaluation and management, pricing and funding strategies, data analytics, valuation support, and legal compliance and governance strategies. We also offer specialty consulting in areas like clinical/health management, pharmacy solutions, and disability/absence management. As a Health and Benefits Intern, you will work with industry leaders, gain exposure to real client assignments, and develop your technical knowledge and industry expertise. You will participate in learning and networking sessions with colleagues and leaders across WTW businesses. The internship provides exposure to functions like Client Service Team (CST), which leads client engagements for health and benefits programs, and Financial, Actuarial, and Analytics (FAA), which drives strategic quantitative and risk conversations with clients using financial management and data analytics expertise.

Requirements

  • Progress towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in human capital/human resource management, health economics, risk management & insurance, business management, marketing and finance, actuarial science, advanced mathematics, or any other major with significant quantitative work.
  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
  • Prior internship or other work experience demonstrating increasing levels of complex work, autonomy, and client service skills.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and work independently, but also cooperatively in a close team environment.
  • Passion for solving problems and sharing solutions to exceed client standards.
  • Resourceful and creative; inquisitive.
  • Sense of accountability; owning one’s work and taking pride in it.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, client-oriented environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Able to work legally in the United States indefinitely and without Visa sponsorship.
  • Candidates must meet the graduation date requirements: expected graduation between December 2027 through June 2028.

  • For Actuarial students: Successful completion of one or more actuarial exams is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of new client strategies and solutions.
  • Analyze and compare vendor products, services, and contracts.
  • Perform financial analyses, including developing pricing, creating employee contribution strategies, and modeling plan design alternatives.
  • Gain specialized knowledge in areas such as pharmacy, life and disability insurance, health equity and wellbeing, vendor placement, actuarial/analytics, and more.
  • Evaluate responses to surveys and vendor proposals.
