The Head Wrestling Coach is responsible for the administration of the designated sports program, including developing team philosophies and responsibilities, supervising players and assistant coaches, and managing equipment inventory. The coach will work with the athletic director and principal on program budget, maintain fields and facilities, and prepare practice and game plans. Additionally, the role involves developing and supervising an off-season strength and conditioning program, a player academic progress program, and ensuring the care of injuries. Building positive relationships with players, parents, students, coaches, faculty, officials, media, and the community is crucial. The coach must be knowledgeable of and adhere to all WVSSAC rules and attend required clinics. Responsibilities also include assisting in organizing supplemental funding activities, supervising and evaluating assistant coaches, and participating in the school’s Sportsmanship Program and Scholar/Athlete Program. Additional reasonable job-related responsibilities may be assigned.
