About The Position

The Head Wrestling Coach / Assistant Football Coach / High School PE Teacher is responsible for leading and managing the wrestling program, assisting with the football program, and providing quality physical education instruction to high school students. This position plays a key role in promoting academic achievement, athletic excellence, sportsmanship, and character development. The ideal candidate will foster a positive and inclusive environment for student-athletes and students in both athletic and academic settings.

Requirements

  • Valid Arkansas teaching license or ability to obtain one preferred.
  • Coaching experience in football and/or wrestling at the high school level or above.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) or willingness to obtain within 6 months.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, organize, and lead all aspects of the high school wrestling program.
  • Plan and conduct effective wrestling practices and training sessions.
  • Instruct student-athletes in proper wrestling techniques, safety, and sportsmanship.
  • Supervise athletes during practices, matches, tournaments, and travel.
  • Manage all aspects of the wrestling program including scheduling, equipment inventory, and budget oversight.
  • Ensure compliance with AAA regulations, district policies, and eligibility requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Head Football Coach to implement offensive or defensive strategies.
  • Support practices, game-day operations, film review, and athlete development.
  • Assist with weight training and conditioning during the season and off-season.
  • Deliver engaging PE instruction aligned with Arkansas standards and district curriculum.
  • Create a classroom culture that encourages physical fitness, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles.
  • Assess and evaluate student progress using both formal and informal methods.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including students with IEPs, 504s, ELLs, and G/T.
  • Promote a positive school climate and represent the athletic programs with professionalism.
  • Support academic achievement and character development among student-athletes.
  • Maintain regular communication with students, families, and school staff.
  • Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and extracurricular school activities.
  • Coordinate and participate in program fundraising and community outreach efforts.
  • Help maintain athletic equipment and facilities in good condition.
  • Obtain and maintain a CDL or assist with transporting athletes to events.
