About The Position

This position is for a Head Track & Field Coach at Fleming Middle School. The coach will be responsible for building a successful program and overseeing all facets of track and field for middle school student athletes. A key emphasis is placed on character building through sport, aligning with the "Building Character through Sport" philosophy. The coach will also monitor academic progress, cooperate with other school sports, and lead assistant coaches and players in supporting other school teams and events.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of the sport of track.
  • NFHS Certification
  • First Aid Card (CPR and AED trained)
  • District fingerprinting /Criminal check
  • Completion of all OSAA Certifications
  • Completion of ODE Steroid Test
  • Completion of all School District paperwork
  • Completion of Safe Schools trainings

Responsibilities

  • Build successful program and oversee all facets of the program.
  • Be a role model for middle school student athletes.
  • Cooperate with other school-sponsored sports by encouraging athletes to compete in off-season programs.
  • Develop and implement an off-season and summer program.
  • Monitor the academic progress and attendance of the players.
  • Lead assistant coaches and players in the support of other LSMS teams and events.
  • Be a team player among all coaches in the athletic program.
  • Demonstrate, model, and teach strong work ethic.
  • Provide academic support.
  • Be a team and individual character builder.
  • Demonstrate organization skills in practice planning.
  • Communicate effectively with players, coaches, parents, and school administration.
  • Build and implement program standards & procedures based on the “Building Character through Sport” philosophy.
