Head Boys Basketball Coach @ Fleming Middle School
About The Position
The Head Boys Basketball Coach at Fleming Middle School will be responsible for building a successful basketball program and overseeing all facets of it. This role requires a strong working knowledge of the game of basketball to foster growth in student athletes and the overall program. The coach will serve as a role model for middle school student athletes, emphasizing strong work ethic, providing academic support, and building character. Cooperation with other school-sponsored sports is encouraged, as is monitoring the academic progress and attendance of basketball players. The coach will also lead other coaches and players in supporting school events.
Requirements
- NFHS Certification
- First Aid Card (CPR and AED trained)
- District fingerprinting /Criminal check
- Completion of all OSAA Certifications
- Completion of ODE Steroid Test
- Completion of all School District paperwork
- Completion of Safe Schools trainings
Responsibilities
- Build successful basketball program and oversee all facets of the program
- Be a role model for middle school student athletes
- Cooperate with other school-sponsored sports by encouraging athletes to compete in Fall and Spring programs
- Monitor the academic progress and attendance of the basketball players
- Lead basketball coaches and players in the support of other teams and events
- Demonstrate, model and teach strong work ethic
- Provide academic support
- Be a team and individual character builder
- Demonstrate organization skills in practice planning
- Communicate effectively with players, coaches, parents and school administration
- Build and implement program standards & procedures based on the “Building Character through Sport” philosophy
