About The Position

The Head Teller is responsible for developing and maintaining customer relationships, managing branch deposit exceptions, approving check cashing and holds, leading the Vault Teller and Teller staff, and opening various types of consumer and business deposit accounts. This role also involves meeting deposit production goals, referring opportunities to other business lines, performing day-to-day operations to ensure satisfactory branch audits, and balancing the branch vault. The Head Teller assists customers with financial transactions, including cashing checks and processing deposits, and recognizes opportunities to cross-sell products and services. Additionally, the role involves assisting Financial Center Managers with front-line staffing, leading tellers in daily activities, training and development of tellers, conducting audits for compliance, and tracking sales referrals.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or the equivalent preferred. Work experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a field that required face-to-face customer service skills and money handling Banking or retail sales experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in opening consumer and business checking accounts preferred.
  • Vault Teller experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain customer relationships by calling on prospective customers, identifying prospects, establishing suitable methods of contact and determining appropriate products and/or services.
  • Responsible for clearing all branch deposit exceptions and completing all file maintenances.
  • Approve check cashing and holds on transactions defined by policy limits.
  • Lead Vault Teller and maintain a monthly rotation with assigned staff.
  • Manage and lead the Teller staff.
  • Open all types of consumer and business deposit accounts to include checking accounts, money market accounts, savings accounts, IRAs, CDs and safe deposit boxes.
  • Meet deposit production goals.
  • Refer opportunities to ancillary lines of business.
  • Perform day to day operations at a level that helps to achieve Satisfactory scores on branch audits.
  • Perform transactions and balance branch vault.
  • Assist customers with financial transactions.
  • Assist customers with questions, concerns, and explanations or demonstrations of bank products or services offered.
  • Recognize and pursue opportunities to cross-sell products and services based upon the customer’s needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assist Financial Center Managers in front line staffing.
  • Leading tellers in daily activities.
  • Training and development of tellers.
  • Auditing and Compliance: conducting regular audits of teller transactions to ensure compliance with banking regulations and internal policies.
