About The Position

The Granite Club is seeking a full-time Head Squash Professional to lead its Squash Program. This role involves overseeing the program, implementing policies, and promoting the game of squash to members of all levels, ages, and abilities. The Head Squash Professional will be responsible for organizing tournaments, coaching teams, teaching lessons and clinics, and ensuring a balance between competitive and social squash activities. The position requires a commitment to upholding the Club's philosophy of uncompromising quality in its athletic facilities, events, and programs.

Requirements

  • Squash Canada Level III Certification (or equivalent).
  • Excellent communications, public relations, and organizational skills.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Excellent oral and written English.
  • Ability to perform a criminal background check and a vulnerable sector search.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality programs and ensure qualified staff teach these programs as agreed upon with the Director of Racquets.
  • Ensure all contractors renew their contracts annually with proof of insurance, police background check, and CAS sign-offs, working with the Athletics Manager.
  • Coordinate and administer league play, ladders, round robins, club championships, and tournaments as agreed to with the Director of Athletics.
  • Work with the Director of Racquets and Assistant Squash Professional in carrying out the administrative functions of the Section.
  • Assist with the promotion of all section programs and activities.
  • Responsible for the training, supervision, and performance of other squash staff relating to the Squash program.
  • Work with the Director of Racquets to identify budget requirements and manage the section budget.
  • Attend meetings initiated by the officers of the Section Committee, providing guidance, support, and direction.
  • Assist the Social Chairman in planning social events and attend/assist with social functions as required.
  • Ensure Club rules pertaining to dress, eye protection, court usage, etc., are enforced.
  • Foster and maintain good relations between all staff members, departments, and members.
  • Prepare necessary reports, submissions, and other administrative items as requested by management or the Squash Committee.
  • Work with the Club’s Property Department to ensure squash courts and facilities are in good condition.
  • Monitor Granite News deadlines and generate appropriate contributions to promote the program.
  • Responsible for the development of the facilities, program, and events schedule, in cooperation with the section committee and Director of Racquets.
  • Maintain a high level of communication with other clubs and sport governing bodies.
  • Ensure all trophies for events are ordered, engraved, and maintained, and update section recognition boards.
  • Provide a written annual report to management on all activities of the Squash Section.
  • Work with the Director of Racquets to ensure safe facilities and a safe environment.
