About The Position

The Head of Trust Technology is a senior technology executive responsible for defining and executing technology strategy, organizational direction, and software delivery outcomes for a major business-aligned technology portfolio. The role leads the Trust Technology organization and is accountable for the long-term technology vision supporting Trust, Fiduciary, Investment Management, Wealth Operations, and related client servicing capabilities. It partners with Trust business executives, Wealth Technology leadership, Enterprise Architecture, Data & AI teams, and Operations leaders to modernize the Trust technology ecosystem and support Truist's long-term Wealth growth strategy.

The position leads multiple software engineering teams, managers, architects, and technology professionals. It maintains accountability for technology investments, portfolio health, engineering effectiveness, business alignment, regulatory compliance, and long-term platform evolution. The role influences enterprise strategy and organizational priorities, and delivers measurable business value through technology transformation, modernization, innovation, operational excellence, risk management, and talent development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, a related field, or equivalent education, training, and work-related experience.
• At least 10 years of professional experience in software development and technology leadership.
• Advanced management and leadership experience leading large, global software engineering organizations.
• Proficiency in technology strategy, software architecture, and enterprise governance.

• Proven experience driving digital transformation and enterprise innovation.
• Wealth Management, Trust, Asset Management, Brokerage, Private Banking, or Financial Services technology experience.

• Experience supporting highly regulated business environments.
• Knowledge of fiduciary operations, trust accounting, investment management platforms, workflow technologies, and wealth services ecosystems.
• Experience leveraging AI, advanced analytics, and intelligent automation to transform business processes and client experiences.

Responsibilities

• Execute short- to midterm operational plans for software engineering teams, translating executive and senior leadership strategies into objectives and day-to-day priorities for multiple teams led by lower-level managers.
• Manage managers responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying software solutions, making timely and informed decisions to meet scope, quality, schedule, and cost targets.
• Apply and improve technology standards, governance practices, and engineering methods, driving quality, security, and compliance while tailoring processes to team needs.
• Provide senior leadership with input on operational plans and improvement opportunities, sharing data and insights to refine strategy execution.
• Develop and coach managers, clarify performance expectations, reinforce ownership, and build a collaborative, results-oriented engineering culture.
• Manage budgets and resources for the job area as needed, overseeing headcount, vendor usage, and spending, and making tradeoff decisions within defined financial and strategic parameters.
• Lead process and tooling improvements across the job area, using metrics and feedback to streamline workflows, reduce waste, and improve reliability and throughput.
• Ensure effective risk management and regulatory compliance for software development and deployment, coordinating with partner teams and control functions to resolve issues within established guidelines.
• Define the long-term technology vision for Trust, Fiduciary, Investment Management, Wealth Operations, and related client servicing capabilities.
• Partner with business and technology leaders to modernize the Trust technology ecosystem and enable Truist's Wealth growth strategy.
