About The Position

The Head of Schools serves as Brooklyn LAB’s senior school-based leader responsible for overseeing the performance, leadership, and operational effectiveness of both the middle school and high school programs.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in school leadership, including experience as a principal, network leader, or senior instructional leader.
  • Demonstrated success in improving scholar achievement and leading high-performing school teams.
  • Strong instructional leadership skills and deep knowledge of curriculum, assessment, and data-driven instruction.
  • Experience managing and coaching school leaders and leadership teams.
  • Strong operational leadership and systems management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and organizational leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise and coach Assistant Heads of School, Assistant Principals, and school leadership teams.
  • Establish clear expectations, accountability systems, and performance goals aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Conduct regular leadership meetings, school reviews, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure strong implementation of Brooklyn LAB’s instructional model across middle and high school programs.
  • Monitor instructional quality, academic performance, assessment data, and scholar outcomes.
  • Lead data-driven academic planning and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Lead the organization’s vision for a strong, inclusive, and achievement-oriented school culture.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of behavior systems, restorative practices, attendance expectations, and scholar support structures.
  • Ensure school-level operational excellence in partnership with operations leadership teams.
  • Establish systems for accountability, progress monitoring, and leadership follow-through.
  • Develop and support school-based leaders, teachers, and instructional teams through coaching and development.
  • Support recruitment, retention, and performance management efforts across school-based staff.
  • Serve as a member of the executive leadership team and partner closely with the CEO on organizational strategy and school performance.
  • Lead cross-school collaboration to ensure consistency and continuous improvement across campuses.
