Head of Product - AI

Precision AICalgary, AB
Onsite

About The Position

The Head of Product – AI will drive the market research, product strategy, and launch of Precision AI's tools for farmers and agricultural organizations. This role sits at the intersection of customer need, agronomic workflows, AI capabilities, and commercial execution, ensuring that products are not only technically strong, but also valuable, usable, and adoptable in real agricultural settings. This person will work closely with the Head of AI, Chief Business Officer, and CEO to define what to build, why it matters, and how it creates value for customers and the business. The role requires someone who spends real time with farmers, understands their needs, and turns those insights into products and go-to-market approaches that meet farmers where they are. In the first phase, this is a senior individual contributor role with significant ownership. This person will build customer relationships, shape product direction, and create strong operating rhythm across customer insight, product development, and launch execution. Over time, the role may grow into team leadership, but early success will come from sound judgment, hands-on execution, and the ability to influence across teams. This role is based in Precision AI's Calgary headquarters and includes regular travel across North America, with the potential for travel beyond that as the business grows. A meaningful portion of the role should be spent in the field visiting farms, meeting customers in their operating environments, and attending conferences and industry events to stay grounded in customer needs, market dynamics, and emerging opportunities.

Requirements

  • 5-15+ years of experience across technical product management or software leadership.
  • Experience in agriculture, agtech, agronomy, or other roles with direct exposure to farmers.
  • Experience working directly with customers in the field, in operational environments, or in other settings where product understanding comes from first-hand exposure rather than second-hand inputs.
  • Experience bringing new products or major product capabilities from concept through launch and iteration.
  • Experience operating in startup, scale-up, or other fast-moving environments where structure must be built while delivering results.
  • Meaningful experience working deeply with engineering, AI, or analytics teams.
  • Strong product judgment and the ability to prioritize what matters most in a constrained, ambiguous environment.
  • Ability to engage credibly with both technical teams and agricultural customers.
  • Comfort using AI in your day-to-day and working on AI-enabled products.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to drive alignment across executives, engineers, and customer-facing teams.
  • High ownership, strong follow-through, and a willingness to stay close to the details where needed.
  • Ability to move between strategy and execution without losing momentum in either.
  • Good instincts around product-market fit, customer value, and what makes software genuinely useful in day-to-day agricultural operations.
  • Comfort with regular travel and strong motivation to spend time with customers in the field.
  • Sound judgment and a bias toward clarity, accountability, and practical decision-making.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a business founder.
  • Engineering degree or a related field of studies.
  • Existing familiarity with the North American agriculture ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Be the central driver of product strategy and roadmap for Precision AI's AI software offerings for farmers.
  • Identify and prioritize high-value customer problems in agriculture where AI can create meaningful value.
  • Partner with the CEO, Chief Business Officer, and Head of AI to align product priorities with company strategy, technical feasibility, and go-to-market timing.
  • Establish clear product success metrics tied to customer value, adoption, product quality, and business impact.
  • Stay close to customers through regular farm visits, field travel, and conference participation, using those insights to shape product direction.
  • Lead customer discovery and validation to ensure product decisions are grounded in real-world workflows and adoption needs.
  • Distinguish between true product opportunities and non-scalable edge cases.
  • Work closely with AI, engineering, design, and business teams to define requirements and priorities.
  • Drive execution from concept through launch, helping teams make timely decisions and maintain momentum.
  • Ensure products are trustworthy, usable, and operationally realistic for customers.
  • Lay the groundwork for a future product function while operating as a senior individual contributor from day one.
