About The Position

The Ministry of Justice is seeking an SC-cleared Head of Proactive Cyber Security to establish a new Proactive Cyber Security Team within its Security Operations Centre (SOC), as part of an ongoing reorganisation across Tech Services. The SOC currently lacks the specialist capability and capacity for this leadership role, so the postholder will provide the expertise and focus needed to build the function.

The role will reduce material cyber and technology risk across MoJ critical systems through a risk-based, prioritised approach, strengthening strategic and core platforms and critical services. It will also improve visibility, ownership and accountability for cyber and technology risk at system, portfolio and enterprise levels.

This is a 12-month contract, inside IR35, working in a hybrid arrangement with 60% office attendance at the nearest MoJ office. The role can only be performed within the UK.

Requirements

• Active SC Clearance.
• Proven experience leading proactive cyber security functions within a large, complex organisation.
• Strong understanding of cyber threat intelligence, vulnerability management, attack surface management, security posture management and threat hunting.
• Demonstrable experience developing and delivering cyber security strategies, roadmaps and improvement programmes.
• Experience engaging and influencing senior stakeholders at Director and Executive level.
• Strong knowledge of modern cloud security, particularly Microsoft Azure, AWS and M365 environments.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage delivery through internal resources and third-party suppliers.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to translate technical risks into business impacts and decisions.
