About The Position

Syndio is seeking a strategic Head of People & Performance to lead its People function during a significant transformation towards an AI-native operating model. This role reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for developing and executing a roadmap that aligns culture, performance, and organizational capability with business outcomes. The Head of People & Performance will lead a small, talented team and serve as a key thought partner at the leadership table, driving strategy from conception to action. This is a builder's role focused on elevating the organization beyond transactional work, enhancing leadership effectiveness, and architecting the necessary people systems for an AI-native business.

Requirements

  • Senior HR leadership experience in technology companies, particularly through periods of transformation or scaling.
  • Proven track record of building strategic People functions, with an emphasis on strategy over compliance or administration.
  • Experience defining leadership standards and embedding accountability into culture.
  • Demonstrated experience in performance, engagement, and culture initiatives with measurable outcomes.
  • Ability to serve as a CEO-level thought partner, bringing a clear point of view and influencing without authority.
  • Practical experience applying AI to People workflows, organizational design, or workforce strategy.
  • Systems thinking approach, understanding the whole system before redesigning parts.
  • Builder mentality, energized by creating new solutions.
  • Clear and direct communication style, translating complexity into actionable steps.
  • Comfort working in a fully remote model.

Responsibilities

  • Define and establish strong leadership standards, including clear behavioral expectations, accountability, and operating norms.
  • Establish a clear model for ownership of culture, performance, and development among leaders.
  • Own the performance architecture, encompassing goal-setting, performance conversations, and aligning individual work with company outcomes.
  • Evolve the definition and measurement of strong performance for an AI-enabled workplace.
  • Lead organizational design and change management initiatives as the company's operating model shifts.
  • Lead the culture roadmap, diagnosing current state, identifying areas for improvement, and building necessary components.
  • Design engagement strategies linked to retention and performance drivers.
  • Build conditions that foster greater accountability and ownership across the organization.
  • Champion an AI-native approach to People functions, automating transactional processes and enhancing human judgment, coaching, and leadership.
  • Own the human aspects of AI transformation, including job design, reskilling, performance evolution, and change enablement.
  • Partner with the CEO and senior leadership to translate business strategy into people strategy.
  • Oversee talent acquisition strategy to attract candidates suited for transformation environments.
  • Own the compensation philosophy and total rewards strategy, ensuring competitiveness, equity, and alignment with value contribution.
  • Ensure People operations are scalable, automated where appropriate, and do not consume strategic capacity.
