About The Position

The "Un-Sales" Role for the Master Connector. This is not a typical Business Development role, which are often just "Sales" in disguise. We do not engage in cold calls, use scripts, or prioritize "activity" over impact. At How To Manage A Small Law Firm (HTM), we believe growth is a natural outcome of trust. We are seeking a sophisticated relationship-builder who understands the value of one high-impact partnership over numerous cold emails. Our mission is to assist solo and small law firm owners in transitioning from overworked practitioners to profitable CEOs. As our Business Development Manager, you will be the primary representative of this transformation within the legal ecosystem. Your role is not to "sell" coaching, but to establish connections that lead firm owners toward achieving freedom.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of high-level BD, partnership, or recruiting experience.
  • Energized by travel, networking events, and "working the room."
  • Can navigate the legal industry with poise, intelligence, and professional "swagger."
  • Must reside in: AZ, CO, FL, GA, IL, MD, MI, NC, NJ, NY, PA, TX, VA, or WA.
  • Must have a track record of building bridges.

  • Finds "scripts" insulting and "structure" helpful only when it serves the relationship.
  • Does not need a "manual" to start their day.
  • Does not prefer a predictable 9-to-5 desk routine.
  • Does not view business as a series of one-off transactions.
  • Does not struggle with ambiguity or building systems from scratch.

Responsibilities

  • Build a web of strategic partnerships that compound in value over time.
  • Act as a "Center of Influence" architect.
  • Be the face of the transformation for solo and small law firm owners in the legal ecosystem.
  • Build bridges that lead firm owners to freedom.
  • Travel for conferences and partner meetings.
  • Build a "moat" of referral partners within six months.
  • Become the go-to person for legal organizations seeking to add value to their members.
  • Drive HTM's national presence.
