Head of Marketing

Bruno Software IncAustin, TX

About The Position

Bruno is the local-first, Git-native API client trusted by more than 4 million developers worldwide. From startups to Fortune 500 companies, engineering teams use Bruno to build, test, and collaborate on APIs without the complexity, cost, or security concerns of cloud-first tools. This role is for someone who is ready to build and own the marketing function from day one, making real decisions about strategy, budget, and execution. The focus is on evidence-based marketing, running experiments, and leveraging data to drive growth. A key requirement is experience marketing to developer audiences.

Requirements

  • Marketing experience in developer tools, infrastructure, or technical B2B software.
  • Currently a Marketing Manager or Senior Marketing Manager (or equivalent) with a track record of results that outgrew their role.
  • An experimenter's mindset: you form hypotheses, set measurable goals, and let the data pick the winners.
  • Strong judgment on build vs. buy vs. automate, and the honesty to change your mind when results say so.
  • Fluency with modern AI tools and a point of view on where they genuinely replace headcount or agencies.
  • Excellent writing. In devtools, the marketing that works reads like it was written by someone technical.
  • Comfortable being the entire marketing function on day one, and the architect of a bigger one over time.

Nice To Haves

  • You've marketed an open source or product-led product before.
  • You've managed agencies or freelancers and know how to get real output from them.
  • Enough technical background to be credible with developers: you know what an API is because you've called one.
  • You've built a marketing function, or a significant piece of one, from scratch.

Responsibilities

  • Own the marketing function end to end: strategy, budget, channels, and results.
  • Design the operating model: decide which capabilities to hire in-house, which to run through agencies, and which to automate with AI, and revisit those calls as the answers change.
  • Run marketing as a series of experiments: set goals against clear hypotheses, ship fast, measure honestly, and scale what performs.
  • Build demand for our enterprise product while respecting the open source community that got us here.
  • Turn 4M+ users into a growth engine: community, content, product-led funnels, and developer word of mouth.
  • Partner with Sales, DevRel, and Product to align messaging, pipeline goals, and launches.
  • Report on what matters: pipeline, revenue influence, and efficiency.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary, equity, and benefits.
