Requirements

  • 10+ years of legal experience, including significant in-house time at a high-growth technology or hardware company.
  • Real entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to do hands-on, detail-level work.
  • Clear, plain-English communication skills to translate legal risk into actionable decisions.
  • Familiarity with children's privacy and data protection compliance (COPPA or international equivalents), or comparable consumer privacy work.
  • Experience supporting international expansion and go-to-market efforts.
  • Familiarity with D2C consumer marketing legal considerations.
  • Solid grounding in board governance work: consents, minutes, equity grants, and related corporate matters.
  • Working knowledge of employment law fundamentals.
  • Fluency using AI as a multiplier across contract review, research, and drafting.
  • Low-ego and collaborative attitude.
  • Based in Seattle and ready to work from the office 4+ days per week.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with physical product compliance, including international requirements.
  • Comfort getting up to speed fast on FCC and telecom-adjacent regulatory work; expertise is a bonus.
  • Deep specialization in employment law is not required.

Responsibilities

  • Guide compliance for all physical, connected products, including international compliance and building compliance playbooks for new products.
  • Own compliance with privacy laws (COPPA, state, and international equivalents), including data collection, usage, and protection.
  • Support international go-to-market efforts by advising on legal and regulatory considerations for new markets.
  • Review and advise on direct-to-consumer marketing, advertising claims, promotions, and privacy.
  • Draft, review, and redline commercial agreements, including vendor, supplier, and partnership deals.
  • Determine legal and structural paths for new product categories, partnerships, and business models.
  • Own the company's regulatory and FCC posture, learning niche areas and engaging outside specialists when needed.
  • Serve as the in-house resource for the People team on employment law matters.
  • Manage board mechanics, including consents, minutes, and equity grants, and support capital raises.
  • Manage budgets and relationships with outside counsel and subject-matter experts, determining what to handle in-house versus externally.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to build something that truly matters.
  • Own the whole legal picture.
  • Work on a small, high-trust team.
  • Room to explore new ideas and build a legal function reflecting company values.
