Head of Internal Audit

10x Genomics•Pleasanton, CA

About The Position

The Head of Internal Audit will own 10x Genomics’ internal audit mandate and SOX program. The role partners with business process teams to establish effective internal controls, particularly management review controls that ensure data completeness and accuracy. As Finance and business teams redesign accounting workflows around AI, the leader will shape controls throughout development and before systems go live, set standards for evidence and review, and provide confidence to the Audit Committee and external auditor. The role works with the Audit Committee, CFO, and leaders across the company to test internal controls, drive SOX compliance, and embed risk management. It is responsible for strengthening governance, improving business processes, and ensuring operational and financial integrity across a fast-growing global company. The role treats audit as a way to help the business move faster, rather than as a final checkpoint.

Requirements

  • Strong grasp of IT general controls, ERP and cloud environments, and AI governance.
  • Independent judgment and the ability to deliver difficult messages to the Audit Committee and executives.

  • Report quarterly to the Audit Committee on findings, remediation, and emerging risks.
  • Own the SOX 404 lifecycle from scoping through remediation.
  • Move the SOX program from sample testing toward full-population coverage and continuous monitoring, and partner with the external auditor to maximize reliance.

  • Partner early with Finance, IT, Legal, and Operations on new systems, process redesign, and acquisitions so controls are embedded rather than retrofitted.
  • Deliver operational audits that improve cost, cycle time, and risk.
  • Build a lean audit team and co-source model.
  • Maintain audit tests and analytics in GitHub and document them for the internal team and external auditor.
  • Measure the impact of the audit function in coverage gained and hours recovered.
