Head of ERP Technical Delivery

Slate Auto
$202,610 - $337,684

About The Position

As the Head of ERP Technical Delivery at Slate, you will own the technical platform that runs Slate at OEM scale. ERP is the closing balance sheet of the digital thread, the system of record every dollar, every component, and every accessory eventually lands on. The platform that supports a startup shipping its first vehicle is not the platform that runs a global automaker. You will be the architect of the transition, and the technical leader of the foundation on the other side of it. This is a hands-on leadership role. You will own the full technical stack, architecture, Basis, development, and security, and you will be accountable for performance, integration, disaster recovery, and SOX-grade compliance from day one. You will build the team that builds the platform, manage the AMS and vendor relationships that scale it, and translate business strategy into a technical roadmap the rest of Slate can execute against. The Head of ERP Technical Delivery reports directly to the Head of Enterprise Systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • 15+ years of SAP technical leadership, specifically within manufacturing, automotive, pharma, or complex hardware environments.
  • S/4HANA Mastery: Architected and delivered full-cycle S/4HANA implementations and upgrades, including N+1 upgrade methodology, on managed-cloud platforms (RiSE, AWS, Azure, or equivalent).
  • Basis and Infrastructure Depth: Direct ownership of Basis, performance engineering, observability, and disaster recovery, across on-premise, hyperscaler, and SAP-managed cloud environments.
  • Compliance Builder: Stood up SOX, ITGC, and APD control frameworks in partnership with external audit (Big Four) and internal audit, including transport governance and GRC tooling.
  • Integration Fluency: Deep working knowledge of SAP BTP, CPI, EDI/IDOC, REST and OData APIs, and modern integration platforms; experience connecting SAP to Salesforce, Coupa, Ariba, OpenText, Palantir, Workato, and similar.
  • Team Builder: Built and led technical teams of 20+ across Basis, Security, Development, and middleware, with hands-on management of offshore AMS and implementation partners.
  • Systems Thinker: You see the company as a series of interconnected loops. You understand how a delay in procurement ripples through the MES and eventually hits the financial ledger.
  • Pragmatic Visionary: You know that “perfect is the enemy of shipped.” You can stand up a minimum viable platform today while architecting for global scale tomorrow.
  • Diplomat: You are skilled at managing stakeholders with competing priorities, helping them find common ground on process, data, and control standards.
  • AI-Forward Engineer: You have introduced AI-assisted development and automation into your platform organizations where it creates real leverage, and you can tell the difference between AI as theater and AI as throughput.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own the ERP Architecture: Lead the technical architecture for Slate’s ERP platform end to end, from infrastructure and Basis through development, integration, and security, with a clear roadmap for how Slate’s ERP scales from launch to global OEM.
  • Build the Compliance Foundation: Design and implement ITGC, APD, and SOX controls before they are audit findings, partnering with Internal Audit and external auditors to stand up the governance framework Slate needs as a public-readiness company.
  • Engineer for OEM Scale: Own performance engineering, disaster recovery, observability, and resiliency for the ERP platform, ensuring the system holds up under production volumes that grow by an order of magnitude.
  • Lead the Integration Layer: Architect the connections between ERP and the rest of Slate’s operational stack, including MES, WMS, PLM, procurement, and the Slate platform applications, using modern integration patterns over middleware sprawl.
  • Build and Run the Team: Recruit, lead, and develop the Basis, Security, and Development engineers who run the platform, and manage the AMS and implementation-partner relationships that extend it.
  • Drive Automation and AI Leverage: Bring automation into transport management, change control, and development, including AI-assisted code generation where it creates measurable speed without compromising governance.
  • Partner with the Business: Act as the technical counterpart to Finance, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing leadership, translating business priorities into platform decisions and making the trade-offs visible.
