About The Position

The primary function of the head of maintenance is to oversee all janitorial and maintenance activities at the Dickinson-Iron ISD. The position also entails maintenance tasks at the Technical Center including repair of equipment whenever possible. The head of maintenance must provide supervision and monitoring of all ISD custodial and maintenance personnel. He/she must also monitor third party contracted janitorial personnel. The head of maintenance is to plan, supervise, and assist with all maintenance operations at the Technical Center that are approved by the Technical Education Director/Principal. The head of maintenance is responsible for assisting with scheduling and evaluating all maintenance and custodial personnel who work for the Dickinson-Iron ISD.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Experience in a building and equipment maintenance
  • Effective communication skills
  • Self-motivated
  • General mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic repairs in one or more of the following areas: General carpentry, HVAC systems including boilers, Electrical and wiring, Plumbing and tankless toilets
  • Experience with grounds equipment including snow plowing skidsteer forklift zero turn mower
  • Must have regular and reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all maintenance and custodial activities at the Dickinson-Iron ISD.
  • Complete maintenance/equipment repairs at the Technical Center.
  • Supervise all maintenance personnel working for the Dickinson-Iron ISD to include substitutes, summer employees, etc.
  • Ensure the Technical Center is secure, neat, clean and safe.
  • Coordinate and oversee all necessary major maintenance repairs with appropriate service providers.
  • Maintain accurate records regarding purchase requisitions and other relevant documentation.
  • Maintain a log of work/hours used when working for Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or General Fund departments of the DIISD.
  • Receive and document all incoming freight and supplies.
  • Maintain service records and schedule repair and maintenance work on all vehicles owned by the Technical Education Dept.
  • Attend safety training on a regular basis including staying current with OSHA rules and regulation.
  • Maintain updated MSDS sheets for all Technical Education programs.
  • Respond to all other duties assigned by administration.
  • Serve as a positive role model for DIISD constituents demonstrating how to be a responsible citizen and productive member of society.
  • Adhere to DIISD Code of Ethics.
  • Ability to carry out other associated duties as assigned by administration.
