About The Position

Inspired Education is a global group of premium schools. The US Performance Academy (USPA) is a fully accredited, independent online school for students in grades 6–12, designed to support ambitious young people balancing academics with high-level athletic and performance pursuits. USPA combines a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum with flexible learning, personalized coaching, and a strong student support network. The Head of Careers and College Counseling supports students and families through every stage of the college and post-secondary planning process. This role is responsible for helping students identify appropriate pathways after graduation, guiding them through college research and applications, supporting scholarship and financial aid planning, and ensuring students are academically and emotionally prepared for life after high school. The Head of Careers and College Counseling is a self-starter that takes initiative and works closely with students in grades 6-12, families, teachers, and school leadership to build a structured, supportive, and student-centered college readiness program that reflects the school’s mission and prepares students for success beyond graduation. This is a full-time, permanent position, working fully remotely.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree in School Counseling, Educational Leadership, School Administration, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years' experience in college, career, and post-secondary destination counseling within a school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of college admissions processes, career pathways, and post-secondary planning.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with students, families, colleagues, and external partners.
  • A polished and professional presence, both in person and across virtual platforms.
  • A self-starter mindset with the ambition and initiative to build and continually enhance a best-in-class counseling program.
  • Strong creative, strategic, and analytical thinking skills, with the ability to present ideas and data in a compelling and impactful way.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A collaborative approach combined with the confidence to work independently and drive new initiatives.
  • A passion for supporting young people in achieving ambitious academic, career, and life goals.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an independent, private, or high-performing secondary school environment preferred.
  • Experience in Career and Technical Education (CTE), college and career readiness, or related pathways is highly desirable.
  • A teaching background is advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience supporting high-achieving students, including athletes, performers, or other students pursuing elite-level activities, is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with online or virtual learning environments is beneficial.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to college conferences, school events, and student-related meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a high-quality College and Career Counseling program for students in Grades 6–12.
  • Provide individual college, career, and post-secondary planning guidance to students and families.
  • Support students through all stages of the college application process, including college selection, essays, applications, deadlines, and admissions requirements.
  • Build strong partnerships with families through regular communication, workshops, webinars, and guidance on admissions, testing, scholarships, and financial aid.
  • Develop and deliver college readiness programming, including workshops, events, and resources for students across all grade levels.
  • Maintain accurate records of student plans, applications, acceptances, scholarships, and post-secondary destinations, providing regular reports to school leadership.
  • Lead all operational aspects of college and career counseling, ensuring effective systems, processes, and documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, learning coaches, school leaders, admissions, marketing, and the wider Inspired network to support student success and enrollment growth.
  • Coordinate recommendation processes and advocate for student needs across the school community.
  • Develop and lead SAT/ACT preparation programs and oversee the Postgraduate (PG) and Dual Enrollment programs, driving growth and exceptional student outcomes.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school and undertake additional responsibilities as directed by school leadership.
