About The Position
The Head of AI will define and lead the AI function for FIRY, a global holding company with businesses in gaming, performance advertising, and developer infrastructure. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role sets the AI strategy across the portfolio, advises Skillz, RZR, and Beamable, improves internal operations through AI-powered automation, and builds shared infrastructure that enables safe and compliant AI use. The role combines strategic direction with hands-on technical execution, including establishing architecture, governance, operating models, and standards; building and leading the AI organization; and driving AI adoption across FIRY.
Requirements
- Strong machine learning engineering background, with hands-on experience building and deploying production ML systems at scale.
- Deep knowledge of LLM orchestration, API-first architecture, prompt engineering at scale, and model routing, including selecting local open-source or frontier models for particular tasks.
- Ability to build AI-powered systems rather than systems that train AI models.
- Proficient coder able to write and review production-quality code.
- Technical depth to guide and advise an engineering team building AI-powered solutions.
- Ability to lead cross-functional work across engineering, product, data, and business teams in a fast-moving, multi-product environment.
- Ability to explain complex AI and ML concepts clearly to executive and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to pair strategic vision with hands-on execution.
- Builder's mentality and comfort working in ambiguous, resource-constrained environments.
- Ability to build and scale high-performing teams, establish clear goals, foster innovation, and develop talent.

Responsibilities
- Define and drive the AI strategy and roadmap across the FIRY portfolio, partnering with the CEO and business leaders to prioritize high-impact opportunities.
- Own the architecture, governance, and operating model for AI across the portfolio, establishing infrastructure, standards, and frameworks.
- Advise Skillz, RZR, and Beamable on AI strategy and augment their teams when needed.
- Recruit, develop, and retain AI talent, and establish how the central AI function works alongside business-level teams.
- Drive enterprise-wide AI adoption, including change management, enablement, and accountability.
- Identify and deliver AI-powered improvements and automation across internal operations, including finance workflows, legal operations, the investment committee process, hiring, talent management, and project coordination.
- Build shared AI infrastructure that helps portfolio companies use AI safely and compliantly.
