About The Position

Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the men's soccer program within the guidelines set forth by Loras College, American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Division III. This role requires the individual to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations made for qualified individuals with disabilities. Given that the College is a diocesan Catholic college, the functions of this position must be carried out in support of the College's Catholic Identity, mission, and in support of Church teachings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in any field.
  • Minimum of three years of successful soccer coaching at the high school, college, or university level, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of NCAA/A-R-C rules and regulations.
  • Good understanding of motivational skills and the ability to implement them.
  • Understanding of budget and reporting requirements.
  • Excellent leadership abilities.
  • Able to organize, coordinate, and direct team activities.
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Excellent public relation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to represent the college and effectively interact with student-athletes, faculty, and staff.
  • Strong administrative skills to plan, organize and implement a quality team and program.
  • Diagnostic and strategic techniques needed to prepare athletes for competition.
  • Must exhibit and provide a positive role model for student-athletes.
  • Respect for and solid representation of the Catholic, liberal arts, residential mission, and environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the identification, evaluation, and recruitment of potential soccer student-athletes.
  • Monitor the academic progress of each soccer student-athlete in the program.
  • Coordinate the physical development of each student-athlete through appropriate conditioning, strength, and practice sessions.
  • Recruit, hire, and evaluate assistant soccer coaches.
  • Direct and monitor the duties of the program's assistant coaches.
  • Stand accessible to the media, alumni, boosters, and public to publicize and promote the program, in coordination with the Director of Athletics.
  • Advise and counsel student-athletes academically, athletically, and socially.
  • Be fiscally responsible for all areas of the soccer budgets and soccer recruiting, including budget proposal, accounting, and expenditure.
  • Recommend and oversee the purchase of new soccer equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
  • Represent the College at all American Rivers Conference meetings.
  • Assist in the coordination of travel arrangements for road trips.
  • Oversee the development of the game schedule with the Director of Athletics.
  • Support the mission and vision of the College and respect the College's Catholic tradition.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
