About The Position

The Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of the University of Redlands Men’s Soccer program, including team instruction and recruitment efforts. Reporting directly to the Head Coach, this position plays a key role in advancing the mission of the University, the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, and the Bulldog Men’s Soccer program. The Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach is expected to uphold and comply with all University, NCAA, and SCIAC rules, regulations, and policies. This position requires flexibility, including availability for night and weekend commitments, and may involve extended travel for competitions and recruiting purposes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Three years of soccer coaching experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit and attract high-achieving student-athletes.
  • Clear understanding of NCAA Division III philosophy and the role of physical education, recreational sports, and athletics within a private, liberal arts academic setting.
  • A valid California Class C CA drivers’ license with a good driving record is required. Note: Out-of-state licenses are valid until appointment. A valid California Class “C” driver’s license must be obtained within ten (10) days of appointment (in accordance with CA Vehicle Code 12505c).
  • Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, and AED.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference given to those with at least one year of intercollegiate soccer coaching experience.
  • Coaching license.
  • Master’s degree.

Responsibilities

  • Supports head coach in identifying, evaluating, and recruiting qualified prospective student-athletes based on ongoing roster expectations determined by the Head Coach, Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletic, and the Admissions
  • Assist with master recruit database
  • Arranges and conducts on- and off-campus visits with prospective student-athletes.
  • Assists with on-field coaching, training, practice design, and skill
  • Manages and tracks student-athlete academic progress and provides necessary support, including, but not limited to, student referrals to campus
  • Manages administrative tasks such as travel arrangements, practice schedules, transportation, team logistics, weekly reports, equipment management, and team fundraising.
  • Supports head coach with planning, execution, and maintenance of all aspects of the program’s social media sites (i.e., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.).
  • Scouts opponents and prepares scouting reports for head coach and team members.
  • Functions as an active team member of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics by attending all required staff meetings and completing mandatory
  • A collateral departmental administrative assignment to be performed in support of programs and the Such assignment will be determined by the strengths, skills, and experience of the successful candidate.
  • Performs other duties and special projects when assigned to support team, departmental, and/or University-wide
