About The Position

Baton Rouge Community College is seeking a Head Men's Basketball Coach to lead the program with a focus on Teamwork & Unity, Motivation & Mindset, and Offense & Execution. This full-time, regular position is part of the Academic & Student Affairs department and is located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • 2 years of professional experience in coaching, recruiting, scheduling, traveling and practicing required or Associates degree or minimum 2 years college and 6 years professional experience in coaching, recruiting, scheduling, traveling and practicing required.
  • Knowledge of applicable team or individual sports and playing rules.
  • Demonstrated competitive coaching skills in area of sporting specialty
  • Organizing and coordinating skills.
  • Knowledge of NJCAA student-athlete academic eligibility requirements.
  • Knowledge of NJCAA recruiting rules.
  • Knowledge of strengthening and conditioning programs and routines.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Passing pre-employment criminal background screen is required as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Organization of and conduct of practice sessions
  • Provide strategic and tactical direction of team during game situations
  • Provide appropriate athletic training and injury prevention
  • Equipment support for athletes
  • Identification of talent needs for program
  • Evaluate and contact perspective athletes and parents/guardians
  • Preparing and making offers in accordance with NJCAA rules
  • Interacting with high school and college coaches to assist with athletes’ transitions into Casper College and into other intercollegiate programs
  • Administer and track the operational budget for the Men's Basketball program with the guidance and direction from the Athletic Director
  • Track scholarship and recruiting expenditures
  • In conjunction with the Athletic Director, develop fund requests for Booster Club assistance
