About The Position

Mason City Schools is seeking a First Shift Head Custodian for the Mason Early Childhood Center. This is a full-time position with 8 paid hours per day and a 1/2 hour unpaid lunch. The Head Custodian will be responsible for the overall cleanliness, safety, security, and sanitation of the assigned building and grounds.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to pass a BCI&I and FBI criminal background check.
• Ability to bend, twist, stoop, squat, and lift in excess of 50 lbs on a routine and ongoing basis.
• Proven history of good attendance.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning of designated areas within the building.
• Supervision of other custodians, including developing daily work schedules during summer months.
• Periodic inspections of the building to identify cleanliness, repair, and maintenance needs.
• Reporting repair needs beyond their capacity to the Assistant Supervisor of Buildings & Grounds.
• Maintaining an up-to-date inventory of janitorial supplies.
• Issuing written requisitions for custodial supplies and equipment.
• Managing the building's heating system and promptly notifying the Chief Operations Officer and Assistant Supervisor of Buildings & Grounds of any issues that might necessitate building closure.
• Ensuring the safety, security, cleanliness, and sanitation of the building and grounds.
• Performing other duties as assigned by Administration.
