Responsible for teaching, coaching, advising and mentoring student-athletes on the team; administer all aspects of the sport in accordance with governing body (if applicable) and university rules and regulations. The primary responsibility of the position is recruiting and retention of student-athletes, teaching effectively in practice and competition, and providing a positive student-athlete experience. Secondary responsibilities include student-athlete academic performance, working with the sport administrator on scheduling and budget management, fundraising, program organization and accountability, and engaging in community service. The instructional head coach must have a philosophy that values the educational and personal well-being of its student-athletes while emphasizing the university and athletics department mission, vision, core values and culture. May supervise staff and conduct sport camps.
