About The Position

Bridgewater College Athletics is seeking an accomplished and energetic Head Softball Coach to lead our NCAA Division III softball program. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Head Coach is responsible for all aspects of the program, including recruiting, player development, competitive success, academic achievement, and program administration. The successful candidate will be a strong leader, mentor, and recruiter who is committed to developing student-athletes both on and off the field while building a championship-caliber program that reflects the values of Bridgewater College.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Collegiate coaching and/or competitive collegiate playing experience
  • Demonstrated success in softball recruiting and student-athlete development
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to build meaningful relationships with student-athletes, families, alumni, and campus partners
  • Commitment to supporting academic achievement and personal growth
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet College driving requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred
  • Previous head softball coaching experience
  • Experience leading a collegiate softball program, preferably at the NCAA Division III level
  • Proven record of successful recruiting, retention, and program growth
  • Experience managing budgets, fundraising initiatives, and alumni engagement activities

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all aspects of the softball program
  • Recruit and retain student-athletes who demonstrate strong academic, athletic, and personal potential
  • Partner with the Admissions Office to support enrollment goals and recruiting initiatives
  • Plan, organize, and conduct practices, competitions, and team travel
  • Develop student-athletes through instruction, mentoring, and performance evaluation
  • Foster a culture of accountability, sportsmanship, academic success, and competitive excellence
  • Manage program budgets and resources responsibly
  • Coordinate fundraising and alumni engagement efforts in collaboration with the Athletics Department
  • Work with Athletic Media Relations and Marketing & Communications to promote the program and its student-athletes
  • Represent Bridgewater College positively within the campus community, conference, and broader softball community
  • Ensure compliance with all NCAA, Old Dominion Athletic Conference, and College policies and regulations
  • Contribute to departmental initiatives and other duties as assigned
