About The Position

This is a temporary, part-time position for a Girls Volleyball Head Coach for grades 5-8. The coach will be responsible for planning practices, supervising athletes, and ensuring fair and equitable enforcement of team rules. The position requires proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and relevant safety certifications. The coach may also be responsible for transporting the team to away contests if school transportation is unavailable. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring drug testing.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Background experience, training, or coursework in the particular sport (volleyball)
Receptive and expressive manual communication skills (ASL proficiency)
CPR/First Aid certificate upon hire
NFHS (National Federation of High Schools) Coaches Education certification
Valid Arizona Dept. of Education certificate in Athletic Coaching, Elementary, Secondary, or Special Education (for High School Head Coaches)
Current CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation)
First Aid
Crisis Intervention Training or certification
Defensive Driver Training Program completion
Pass FBI and State background check
Pass post offer physical
Proficient ASL Required

Nice To Haves

ASL (American Sign Language) skills if working with deaf or hard of hearing staff/students

Responsibilities

Plan practices
Supervise athletes at all times
Report to Athletic Coordinator regarding accidents, equipment needs, eligibility rosters, transportation and meal requests, equipment/uniform inventory
Develop team rules and enforce them fairly and equitably
Provide appropriate leadership/role model for athletes
Safely lift and transport non-ambulatory students
Other duties as outlined in the coaches' manual
Transporting the team to an away contest in school vehicles, if necessary
