About The Position

The SEED School of Washington, D.C. is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, and experienced Head Coach for its Girls Volleyball program. This role involves working with athletes to improve their skills and performance through drills, conditioning, and in-game strategy instruction. The coach will also be responsible for organizing and scheduling the volleyball season, conducting player tryouts, supervising all practices and activities, ensuring player eligibility, and coordinating travel arrangements for away games. The SEED Foundation operates public, college-preparatory boarding schools for traditionally underserved students, offering a unique 24-hour, 5-day per week learning environment. The school currently serves 250 students in grades 9-12 and has a strong track record of college acceptance.

Requirements

  • Prior experience or coaching in this sport is required
  • Experience as a volleyball player at the high school or college level
  • Thorough understanding of game rules and coaching techniques
  • Leadership and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • High school coaching experience is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in sports management or exercise science is beneficial

Responsibilities

  • Organize and schedule the volleyball season
  • Conduct player tryouts at the beginning of the season
  • Supervise every minute of every practice/activity
  • Lead team practices and conditioning sessions
  • Make sure all players fulfill the eligibility requirements of the District of Columbia State Athletic Association
  • Provide in-game strategies
  • Coordinate travel plans for away games
