Head Coach Cross Country & Track & Field
About The Position
California State University San Marcos is currently inviting applications for the position of Coach, with the working title of Head Coach Cross Country & Track & Field. This is a 1-year term for AY 2026-2027. The coach will lead the day-to-day operations of our successful NCAA Division II cross country and track & field teams. This includes, but is not limited to, recruiting, preparation of practice and competition schedules, team travel organization, the athletic scholarships process, compliance with all NCAA bylaws, and student-athlete welfare. The coach will foster academic success through retention and graduation of student-athletes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- Three years of paid NCAA DI or NCAA DII cross country and/or track & field intercollegiate coaching experience
- Knowledge of NCAA compliance rules and regulations
- No major NCAA violations
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to maintain/obtain a California Driver’s License and campus defensive driving certification
- Ability to maintain/obtain CPR, First Aid and AED certification
- Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.

- NCAA head coaching experience in Cross Country and/or Track & Field
- Demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving a diverse campus community as it relates to coaching and, as applicable, service.
