About The Position

California State University San Marcos is currently inviting applications for the position of Coach, with the working title of Head Coach Cross Country & Track & Field. This is a 1-year term for AY 2026-2027. The coach will lead the day-to-day operations of our successful NCAA Division II cross country and track & field teams. This includes, but is not limited to, recruiting, preparation of practice and competition schedules, team travel organization, the athletic scholarships process, compliance with all NCAA bylaws, and student-athlete welfare. The coach will foster academic success through retention and graduation of student-athletes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Three years of paid NCAA DI or NCAA DII cross country and/or track & field intercollegiate coaching experience
  • Knowledge of NCAA compliance rules and regulations
  • No major NCAA violations
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to maintain/obtain a California Driver’s License and campus defensive driving certification
  • Ability to maintain/obtain CPR, First Aid and AED certification
  • Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.

  • NCAA head coaching experience in Cross Country and/or Track & Field
