About The Position

The Head Cashier supervises a team of cashiers and assists with operational issues at Sprouts Farmers Market. The role supports excellent customer service, register operations, store cleanliness, security and loss prevention, and the hiring, training, and supervision of cashiers. The position works in a fast-paced retail environment and requires flexibility as business needs change.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Have a high school diploma or GED.
Have 1–2 years of recent cashiering experience supplemented with leadership training.
Be dependable and reliable, with the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes with business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Demonstrate outgoing, friendly behavior and a positive attitude, and interact appropriately with customers as a role model.
Be able to operate front-end equipment, including a register, calculator, and scanner.
Have good communication skills, take direction and constructive criticism, and participate in a team environment.
Be able to perform repetitious activities, multitask, prioritize, and stay organized.
Be able to lift and carry products weighing up to 30 pounds, from 36 inches to 24 inches, for up to 3 feet and for up to 50 hours without mechanical assistance.
Be able to use both hands to move grocery carts horizontally with a force of up to 35 pounds, for up to 4 feet and for up to 50 hours.
Have strong attention to detail and proficiency with numbers, cash handling, and mathematical skills.
Be able to read, write, and count.

Responsibilities

Supervise a team of cashiers and assist with operational issues.
Visit registers proactively to ensure excellent customer service and provide direction and support to Cashiers and Courtesy Clerks.
Assist with customer service issues at the register.
Assign store sweeps and monitor and maintain cash register supply levels.
Maintain cleanliness standards in restrooms and parking lots.
Maintain visibility of exit doors for security and loss prevention.
Schedule and oversee appropriate meal and rest breaks in compliance with company policy and state requirements.
Assist with hiring and training new Cashiers and take necessary steps for disciplinary actions.
