About The Position

The Head Cashier supervises a team of cashiers and assists with operational issues at Sprouts Farmers Market. This role helps deliver excellent customer service in a fast-paced grocery environment by supporting cashiers and courtesy clerks, assisting customers at registers, and overseeing front-end operations. The position also helps maintain store cleanliness, supplies, security awareness, and compliance with break requirements. The Head Cashier may assist with hiring, training, and disciplinary actions for cashiers.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
High school diploma or GED required.
1–2 years of recent cashiering experience supplemented with leadership training.
Dependable and reliable, with the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes with business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Outgoing and friendly behavior, a positive attitude, and the ability to interact with customers and serve as a role model.
Ability to operate front-end equipment, including a register, calculator, and scanner.
Good communication skills; ability to take direction and constructive criticism and participate in a team environment.
Ability to perform repetitive activities, multitask, prioritize, and stay organized.
Ability to lift or carry products weighing up to 30 pounds horizontally or vertically, from 36 inches to 24 inches, for up to 3 feet and up to 50 hours without mechanical assistance.
Ability to use both hands to move grocery carts horizontally, requiring a force of up to 35 pounds for up to 4 feet and up to 50 hours.
Strong attention to detail and proficiency with numbers, cash handling, and mathematical skills; ability to read, write, and count.

Responsibilities

Proactively visit registers and provide direction and support to Cashiers and Courtesy Clerks to ensure excellent customer service.
Assist with customer assistance issues at the register.
Assign store sweeps, monitor and maintain cash register supply levels, and maintain cleanliness standards in restrooms and parking lots.
Maintain visibility of exit doors for security and loss prevention issues.
Schedule and oversee appropriate meal and rest breaks in compliance with company policy and state requirements.
Assist in hiring and training new Cashiers and take necessary steps for disciplinary actions.
