About The Position

The Head Cashier supervises a team of cashiers and assists with operational issues at Sprouts Farmers Market. The role supports excellent customer service by visiting registers, guiding and assisting Cashiers and Courtesy Clerks, and helping resolve customer concerns. It also includes assigning store sweeps, monitoring register supplies, maintaining cleanliness in restrooms and parking lots, and watching exit doors for security and loss-prevention concerns. The Head Cashier schedules and oversees meal and rest breaks in compliance with company policy and state requirements, and assists with hiring, training, and disciplinary actions for Cashiers. This is a fast-paced, customer-facing leadership position in a friendly grocery-store environment. The role requires a flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends, and holidays, as well as the ability to perform specified lifting and cart-moving tasks.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Have a high school diploma or GED.
Have 1–2 years of recent cashiering experience supplemented with leadership training.
Be dependable and reliable, with the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes with business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Demonstrate outgoing, friendly behavior, a positive attitude, and the ability to interact with customers as a role model.
Be able to operate front-end equipment, including a register, calculator, and scanner.
Have good communication skills, the ability to take direction and constructive criticism, and the ability to participate in a team environment.
Be able to perform repetitious activities, multitask, prioritize, and stay organized.
Be able to lift and carry product horizontally and vertically, weighing up to 30 pounds, from 36 inches to 24 inches, for a distance of up to 3 feet for up to 50 hours without mechanical assistance.
Be able to use both hands to move grocery carts horizontally, requiring a force of up to 35 pounds, for a distance of up to 4 feet for up to 50 hours.
Have strong attention to detail and proficiency with numbers, cash handling, and mathematical skills, and be able to read, write, and count.

Assist in hiring and training new Cashiers and take necessary steps for disciplinary actions.
