About The Position

The Head Cafeteria Worker is responsible for managing the cafeteria under the supervision of the school principal. This role involves food preparation, presentation, and service to students and staff, as well as managing inventory, ordering supplies, and handling daily deposits and sales reports. The position requires collaboration on the cafeteria's business plan, weekly menu, and pricing, and engagement in the school's recycling program. An interest in working in a school environment is essential.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of and a willingness to build healthy menus and snacks on sound nutritional principles.
  • Current Food Handlers certificate.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a school at the p to 8 level is preferable.
  • Previous experience in a school cafeteria will be an asset.
  • An educational background in the nutritional studies would be and asset

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing the cafeteria under the supervision of the school principal.
  • Current Food Handlers certificate.
  • Experience in the area of food preparation, presentation, and service to students and staff.
  • A willingness to consult and collaborate regarding cafeteria business plan, weekly menu and pricing.
  • Ordering food items and relevant supplies.
  • Keeping an inventory on a frequent basis, of all foods and supplies.
  • Daily deposits.
  • Cash reconciliation and sales reports.
  • Preparation and serving of food, kitchen duties as required in co-ordination with the cafeteria team (stocking, cleaning, dishes, etc.).
  • A willingness to be engaged in the school recycling program.
  • An interest in working in a school environment.
