About The Position

Hendler Family Brewing Company is looking for an experienced professional to lead our brewing team. The Head Brewer is responsible for all brewhouse operations on our two 60BBL brewhouses. The Head Brewer works with our internal operations department and contract partners to build personnel and brewing schedules to meet forecasted needs. This position is responsible for training, standards, goal setting and continuous improvement related to brewhouse operations. This is a public facing position that may require the ability to speak at events and represent the brewery to the public. The Head Brewer works closely with leadership to find opportunities to improve the safety, efficiency and quality of our operations. A proven track record of leadership in a Continuous Improvement environment is strongly preferred.

Requirements

  • 5 years of leadership experience in a high volume brewery
  • Leadership experience in a Continuous Improvement environment
  • 10 years of production brewery experience
  • Experience with ProLeiT preferred
  • Advanced brewing education
  • Ability to remain organized in fast-paced high-pressure environments
  • Proficiency with ERPs
  • Comfortable working in a non-temperature controlled/refrigerated environment
  • Ability to maintain professionalism in a high pressure environment
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills, both with management and fellow associates.
  • Experience with Google suite and/or Microsoft Office suite of applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Multilingual (English, Spanish and/or Portuguese) is a plus, but not required.
  • Knowledge of the craft beer industry and appreciation of the culture that goes with it.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the brewhouse team, communicating personnel and production schedules consistently and effectively
  • Ensure the safe, on-time and in-full creation of high quality wort consistently
  • Effectively translate company and department objectives into daily instruction, coaching and goal setting for the brewhouse team
  • Maintain records and schedule of cleaning tasks and preventative maintenance related to brewhouse operations
  • Collaborate on purchasing decisions with the Operations team
  • Responsible for the consumption of raw material inventory
  • Troubleshoot brewing and fermentation issues
  • Partner with Quality team on Quality Flag resolutions, corrective action and process improvements
  • Work with the Innovation Program Manager to scale projects up from our pilot systems
  • Champion an environment of continuous improvement
