About The Position

CHESHIRE ACADEMY SEEKS A HEAD BOYS' VARSITY LACROSSE COACH FOR THE 2026-2027 ACADEMIC YEAR. The primary responsibilities include direct coaching, program organization, practice planning, game preparation and management, and overall student-athlete development in alignment with Cheshire Academy's mission and core values. The coach is expected to support student-athletes' academic success, character development, social-emotional learning, and community involvement. Key duties involve yearly recruitment and retention of highly skilled, mission-appropriate student-athletes, and providing guidance for NCAA recruitment in collaboration with the College Counseling Office. Administrative tasks include continuous communication with the athletic department, managing team rosters, overseeing individual and team statistics, providing game wrap-ups to media outlets and the CA website, utilizing Hudl for game filming, and attending NEPSAC league and conference meetings. The role also requires end-of-season duties such as information collection, uniform management, award recognition, and season review. The coach must create a competitive, fun, and positive environment for all student-athletes. Ideally, coaches will also be members of the teaching faculty.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Proven lacrosse coaching experience at the college/high school and/or premier level
  • Previous recruiting experience required
  • Must demonstrate energy and determination necessary to provide valuable and timely services to prospective and newly enrolling students/families
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with a range of parents, students, faculty, and staff as a Head Coach
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills as well as written and oral communication skills
  • Must be a demonstrated leader
  • Passion for and experience with recruiting and supporting a culture of inclusion and diversity

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with or extensive knowledge of independent day and boarding schools preferred
  • Depending on candidate’s strengths, the ability to coach a secondary sport in some capacity
  • Ideally, coaches will also be members of our teaching faculty

Responsibilities

  • Direct coaching responsibilities inclusive of program organization, practice planning, game preparation/management, and overall student-athlete development following the mission statement and core values of Cheshire Academy.
  • Support CA commitment to student-athletes through prioritization of student academic success, character development, social emotional learning, and community involvement.
  • Yearly recruitment and retention of highly skilled mission-appropriate student-athletes.
  • In collaboration with the College Counseling Office, provide guidance to student athletes engaged in the NCAA recruitment process.
  • Administrative tasks including, but not limited to: continuous communication with the athletic department, prepare and update team rosters, oversee individual and team stats, provide game wrap ups to media outlets and CA website, utilize game filming with Hudl, attend league and conference meetings for NEPSAC league.
  • Provide end of season collection of information, uniforms, award winners, and season review.
  • Create a competitive, fun, and positive environment for all student athletes.
