About The Position

The Head Boys Golf Coach provides coaching, athlete development, and supervisory responsibilities for the golf program at Discovery Canyon Campus High School. The coach is responsible to the Athletic Director and/or a head coach. The role includes promoting athlete growth and success, maintaining a positive and competitive program, communicating with stakeholders, managing program equipment and fiscal responsibilities, and supervising athletes and facilities before, during, and after practices and competitions. Compensation for this extra-pay position is contingent on District approval of the related athletic event during the school year. Certifications listed as required qualifications may be obtained after acceptance of the position.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
American Sport Education Program (ASEP) certification.
Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) certification.
National Federation of State High Schools (NFHS) Coaching Fundamentals certification.
Ability to be flexible and patient in work demands.

Responsibilities

Report consistently for scheduled work and perform other assigned duties.
Meet established performance standards and seek feedback and professional learning.
Communicate regularly with the Athletic Director and maintain timely, professional communication with stakeholders.
Set and reinforce high expectations for athlete behavior.
Manage fiscal responsibilities and meet related deadlines.
Demonstrate knowledge of golf, program policies, rules, game management strategies, governing-body regulations, and athlete development.
Lead the program with fairness, patience, understanding, and tolerance, fostering a positive environment.
Build respectful relationships with stakeholders and maintain effective program communication procedures.
Develop a program that supports individual and team growth and creates opportunities for athlete success.
Apply strategies and tactics to maximize competitive opportunities.
Maintain, inventory, store, and reorder equipment before the season begins.
Evaluate assistant coaches when applicable.
Monitor athlete injuries, communicate with the athletic trainer and parents, take a proactive approach, and ensure medical release before return to play.
Plan character development for athletes on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
Prepare detailed practice plans supporting individual skill progression and strategy development.
Submit rosters, transportation requests, and certifications before deadlines.
Supervise facilities and athletes before, during, and after practices and competitions.
