Head Barista
About The Position
The Head Barista oversees daily coffee bar operations, prepares and serves coffee beverages, and helps ensure guests receive attentive service. The role includes maintaining supplies and inventory, creating seasonal offerings and recipes, assisting with team-member training, and keeping the bar and equipment clean and in good working order. The position requires a positive, team-oriented approach, effective communication, and schedule flexibility for days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Requirements
- At least one year of prior barista or relevant experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively with managers, employees, and guests.
- Positive energy and willingness to assist fellow support staff and work as a team player.
- Flexible schedule to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to meet the stated physical demands, including constant standing and walking and occasional stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling, or lifting.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily coffee bar operations and maintain the supplies needed for day-to-day operations.
- Create, prepare, and serve coffee beverages according to recipes and accurately record drink orders.
- Receive and serve food and drink orders to guests seated at the bar.
- Accept and process guest payments and report cash and credit card gratuities in accordance with IRS income-reporting standards.
- Create seasonal offerings.
- Develop and type recipes for fellow baristas to keep on file.
- Assist with training new team members by reinforcing successful performance and providing respectful, encouraging coaching as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness throughout the bar, including the coffee station and bar tops; wash and sterilize glassware; and set up and break down bar items.
- Assist with restocking and replenishing bar inventory and supplies.
- Report equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to the restaurant manager.
