About The Position

Responsible for installing, configuring, managing, and supporting desktops, portable computers, and related peripherals over a multi-platform network. The specialist helps ensure end-user productivity by resolving problems and participates in evaluating products for compatibility, flexibility, and ease of use, including designing application options with mainframe applications. This position works onsite at UNC Rex in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• With an associate's degree, no prior experience is required.
• With a high school diploma or GED, two years of relevant experience are required.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• High responsiveness to internal customers.

Responsibilities

• Help ensure network security by enforcing passwords and installing virus protection software and encryption technology.
• Follow policies and procedures; create user profiles; and administer file and folder security and storage capacity.
• Manage desktop peripheral inventory and assist with asset management.
• Maintain accurate records of device changes and update the inventory system whenever a computer is installed or relocated.
• Participate in evaluating products for compatibility, flexibility, and ease of use, including designing application options with mainframe applications.
• Install and configure hardware and software applications.
• Provide technical support and incident resolution for hardware and software issues.
• Provide initial training to familiarize customers with system operation.
• Perform desktop moves in a timely manner based on user and organizational needs.
