About The Position

This role is responsible for advancing FTI's end-to-end hazardous materials and environmental compliance framework. The manager will ensure compliance with various EPA, OSHA, and DOT regulations, develop and submit environmental reports, and assist with audits and inspections. The position also involves conducting risk assessments, hazard analyses, and recommending systems for hazardous material tracking and management. Requirements

  • Experience with EPA, OSHA, and DOT hazardous materials regulations and environmental reporting.
  • Ability to evaluate applicability of additional EPA programs (e.g., TSCA, SPCC) as operational scope evolves.
  • Strong working knowledge of SDS interpretation, chemical compatibility, ventilation/storage requirements, and emergency response.
  • Experience with conducting environmental assessments, audits, and risk analyses.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health, Chemistry, or related field.
  • 7+ years in Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) or environmental roles, including experience with hazardous materials management.

  • Certifications such as: CSP, CHMM, CIH, NEBOSH, ISO 14001, HAZWOPER, OSHA 30/HAZMAT transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Advance FTI’s end-to-end hazardous materials and environmental compliance framework, including data analysis, comprehension of policies, processes, governance, standards, tools, and reporting.
  • Define what constitutes hazardous material for FTI and maintain documentation aligned with EPA, OSHA, DOT, CERCLA/EPCRA, RCRA, and other federal/state requirements.
  • Partner with stakeholders to integrate environmental risk considerations into new technologies and facility expansions.
  • Collaborate with teams in Procurement, Safety, Engineering, Supply Chain, Facilities, Manufacturing, Field Operations, and Legal/Risk to promote consistency and facilitate the adoption of new processes.
  • Ensure compliance with EPA (CERCLA/EPCRA, Clean Air/Water Act, RCRA, and TSCA where applicable), OSHA (hazard communication, exposure limits, hazardous material handling), and DOT/PHMSA (hazmat transport, labeling, training).
  • Ensure compliance with relevant state and local permits, building codes, and storage requirements.
  • Develop and submit all required environmental reports, including Tier II/TRI when applicable.
  • Assist with internal audits, corrective actions, and inspection readiness.
  • Ensure compliant handling, storage, labeling, and disposal of chemicals and batteries.
  • Assist to standardize protocols for the handling, ventilation, and waste management of materials associated with industrial painting, welding, and metal fabrication to minimize environmental impact and personnel exposure.
  • Conduct or oversee job hazard analyses (JHAs), environmental impact assessments, and industrial hygiene evaluations for chemical, biological, and physical risks.
  • Coordinate workplace testing for chemicals, noise, air contaminants, and hazardous materials.
  • Coordinate with Safety and Risk teams to develop and maintain environmental emergency response plans (spill response, battery incidents, exposure protocols).
  • Support environmental hazard assessments for emerging materials and technologies (e.g., large-format batteries), including evaluation of fire risk, ventilation, storage, and safety considerations.
  • Recommend systems for hazardous material tracking, labeling, SDS management, and environmental data reporting.
  • Support ERP tagging, metadata definitions, and item-level environmental classification.
  • Ensure tools support real-time visibility and compliance readiness.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
