About The Position

The Cumberland River Quarry in Salem, Kentucky is currently recruiting for a Haul Truck Operator. This role involves operating 50 and 100-ton Haul Trucks and a Water Truck. The operator will be responsible for pre-shift inspections, understanding quarry layout and stockpiles, identifying different rock sizes and stockpile locations, and inspecting work areas for hazards. The position also requires competency in loading barges and hauling to the Rip Rap Plant, acknowledging all safety standards, and completing job duties to the supervisor's satisfaction. Maintaining good attendance, a positive attitude, and minimizing property damage are essential. The operator will also be responsible for training newly assigned truck drivers.

Requirements

  • Ability and desire to work 12-hour shifts.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work weekend or overtime as needed.
  • Ability to do manual labor including lifting items as heavy as 50 pounds.
  • Ability and desire to work during inclement conditions including extreme heat and cold.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and perform repetitive bending and stooping when required.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with all personnel at the Quarry.
  • Motivated and a self-starter.
  • Willing to work night shift.
  • Must be in current classification for 12 months before applying.
  • If awarded position, must stay in this new position for at least 12 months before applying for a new position.

Responsibilities

  • Complete a thorough pre-shift inspection and walk the trainer through the pre-shift performed.
  • Operate 50 and 100-ton Haul Trucks and Water Truck.
  • Demonstrate competent understanding of quarry layout and stockpiles.
  • Identify different size rock and different stockpile locations.
  • Inspect and identify hazards with work area (i.e. Stockpiles, Haul Roads, Pit).
  • Demonstrate competency and understanding of loading barges on fixed and floating docks.
  • Demonstrate competency and skillfulness of hauling to Rip Rap Plant.
  • Acknowledge all safety standards and operating procedures for each area.
  • Complete job duties to the satisfaction of the supervisor.
  • Maintain a good attendance record.
  • Maintain a good attitude towards the job.
  • Be responsible for minimal to no property damage incidents.
  • Train newly assigned Trucks Drivers per CRQ guidelines.
