About The Position

The Haul Truck Operator plays a critical role in the mining, quarrying industries by safely and efficiently transporting large volumes of materials across mining sites. This position requires operating heavy haul trucks to move ore, waste, and other materials between designated locations, ensuring continuous workflow and productivity. The operator must maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and operational procedures to minimize risks and prevent accidents in a challenging and dynamic environment. Additionally, the role involves performing routine inspections and basic maintenance on haul trucks to ensure optimal performance and reduce downtime. Ultimately, the Haul Truck Operator contributes directly to the overall success of mining operations by supporting material handling and site logistics with precision and reliability.

Requirements

  • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) or equivalent certification for operating heavy haul trucks.
  • Proven experience operating heavy haul trucks or similar heavy equipment in a mining or industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of safety standards and operational procedures relevant to haul truck operation.
  • Ability to pass physical and medical examinations required for heavy equipment operation.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude to perform routine equipment inspections and identify potential issues.

  • Previous experience working in mining, quarrying, industries.

Responsibilities

  • Operate haul trucks to transport materials such as ore, waste rock, and equipment within the mining site according to daily production plans.
  • Conduct pre-operational inspections of haul trucks to identify and report any mechanical issues or safety hazards.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, site policies, and environmental guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Communicate effectively with site supervisors, equipment operators, and other team members to coordinate material movement and respond to operational changes.
  • Maintain accurate records of haul truck operations, including load counts, distances traveled, and any incidents or maintenance performed.
