Haul Truck Operator
About The Position
Luck Stone's Powhatan Plant is seeking a safety-minded Seasonal Haul Truck Operator to navigate quarry roads and berms and safely load and unload rock into primary crushers. The operator will also assist with plant maintenance. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and keeping the worksite clean and organized. The position is onsite at an active MSHA-regulated quarry, working outdoors in all weather and around noise, dust, and moving equipment. Hard hat, safety glasses, and other PPE are required. The work may involve climbing, bending, lifting, and comfort with heights and confined spaces. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional weekend overtime. The position is seasonal. The estimated pay range is described as the budgeted amount, with final offers based on factors including skill set, experience, location, qualifications, and other job-related reasons; no specific range is provided.
Requirements
- A team-oriented attitude and a positive outlook toward work and accomplishing goals.
- Mechanical aptitude, hands-on work experience, and/or driving experience.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in a quarry or large construction environment, or heavy equipment experience.
Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-shift and post-shift vehicle inspections.
- Identify and report road, high wall, and equipment issues.
- Operate heavy equipment using proper loading and dumping techniques.
- Ensure the vehicle receives proper maintenance.
- Occasionally operate the Water Truck or Bin Truck, or assist with plant maintenance projects.
- Assist with projects and activities beyond heavy equipment operation as needed.
- Prioritize safety throughout the site for yourself and others.
- Leave the site clean and organized at the end of every shift.
