About The Position

This is a fast-paced, physical position in which a Team Member will pick up, deliver, and inspect eggs to determine quality and fitness for incubation. The role involves cleaning, sanitizing, and storing eggs under controlled conditions in an egg facility. The work schedule is Sunday through Wednesday, 6:30 am - 4:30 pm, and is subject to change based on production needs. Starting pay is $17.00 per hour plus shift differential for evenings, nights, and weekends.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 6 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months. If applicant has been laid off or providing child or elder care, the employment gap will be increased to 18 months.
  • Previous work history will not apply to applicants who have been full-time students consecutively for the last 36 months.
  • Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days.
  • Rehire Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Cobb/Tyson Foods.
  • Must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview.
  • Must use safe lifting techniques.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds repetitively (e.g., tray of eggs); other items (e.g., wheeled buggy) may occasionally require moving up to 500 pounds.
  • Regularly required to stand majority of shift (concrete floor), walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, balance, climb/use ladders, stoop/bend over occasionally, talk or hear, drive a vehicle within the farm complex, and enter and exit vehicle repeatedly.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.).
  • Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.
  • Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Pick up and deliver eggs from chicken houses to the egg facility.
  • Set up and test egg sanitizer prior to each egg pull; properly perform egg inventory practices and record egg pull inventory.
  • Observe eggs moving on conveyors through sanitizers; observe shell color/texture and external characteristics such as streaks, shadings, discolorations, and cracks.
  • Place hatching eggs on buggies and in boxes and properly label both internal and external orders.
  • Operate and clean egg sanitizer; remove waste (egg shells, feathers, feces, etc.); clean and sanitize egg room, connecting areas, crates and flats, and vehicles; fumigate rooms.
  • Perform preventative maintenance; place broken, dirty, or other substandard eggs in a container for disposal; monitor, control, and record proper room temperatures and humidity controls; dispense formaldehyde per schedule; properly euthanize weak, ill, or injured birds in accordance with company policy.
